|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Japan | 10 days, 9 nights | Tokyo 4 nights, Kyoto 5 nights | Balanced | 2 (day 5, day 10) | First visit focused on neighborhoods, temples and food |

| Dubai | 3 full days | One Dubai base, 3+ nights | Relaxed | None inside the plan | Heat-aware city days in three clusters |
Pace uses Amicly's bands: Relaxed is 3 to 4 stops a day, Balanced 4 to 6 and Packed 6 to 7. None of these templates is Packed. You can add stops later; removing them on the day is harder.
What every itinerary travel template includes
- A direct answer at the top: the route, the nights in each base and who the plan suits.
- An at-a-glance table with morning, afternoon and evening for every day.
- A day-by-day plan in the Amicly format with timed stops, meals, booked visits and an "Open in maps" link for each named place.
- A geographic route map with numbered stops, plus a map search link for the exact places.
- Day-by-day guidance on what to book, what to skip and where the plan can bend.
- Transport and budget decisions written as methods, not invented prices.
- A blank itinerary table for your dates, confirmed anchors, transfer buffers and backups.
- A budget worksheet with six lines that add up to a trip total.
- A pre-booking checklist, destination FAQs and official sources.
How the templates follow the Amicly plan format
Amicly is an AI travel planner that checks its own plan. The templates use the same structure, so a plan you build later in the app will look familiar. Four rules shape every day:
- One theme and one main area per day. You are not crossing the city twice before lunch.
- Meals are stops. Lunch and dinner sit in the plan at real times, near the stops around them.
- Booked stops keep their time. Nothing new is planned in the 30 minutes before a booking, and a booked visit is assumed to take about an hour unless the ticket says otherwise.
- Travel days are planned, not skipped. The arrival day fills the gap between landing and check-in. The departure day works backward from the flight: three hours at the airport for an international flight, two for a domestic one, then the transfer and a margin of at least 15 minutes, or 25% of a long journey.
Every time carries a label:
- Your input
- Calculated
- Estimate, not checked live
- Booked, kept at its time
- Meal
- Free time
Here is how the first morning of the Rome template looks:
Day 1 · Sample
Ancient Rome
Colosseum, Forum and Monti
- 09:00
Colosseum
- 11:00
Roman Forum
- 12:30
Lunch in Monti
- 14:30

What the templates do not check
Templates are fixed routes. They are not checked against your dates.
Opening days, holiday hours, live journey times and ticket availability change. The Amicly app checks those for a specific trip; with a template, you confirm them on each place's own site.
How to use an itinerary travel template in 6 steps
- Write down your fixed facts first. Arrival airport and time, departure airport and time, hotel addresses and check-in times. These are your inputs and never move.
- Match the template's nights to your hotel nights. If they disagree, change the plan, not the bookings.
- Choose one or two anchors. Book the timed tickets you care about most, such as the Vatican Museums or Sagrada Família, before anything else.
- Fill the blank day table. For each day add the confirmed anchor, the transport and arrival buffer, and one nearby backup.
- Protect transfer days. A hotel move is a block of its own: checkout, the journey, luggage and check-in.
- Run the checklist. Confirm opening days, entry rules and the departure transfer for your exact dates.
Pick a template by trip length
3 days: one city, one hotel
The Barcelona, Rome and Dubai templates assume three full sightseeing days with flights outside the plan. If your flights land on day 1 or leave on day 3, remove a block from those days before you buy tickets.
7 days: two bases
The Bali template splits six nights between Ubud and the south coast. One hotel move mid-week is enough; a third base would turn the trip into transfers.
10 days: two or three bases with one long move
The Japan template uses two bases and one intercity train. The Vietnam template uses three bases and a domestic flight, with day 6 given over to the journey.
Blank master itinerary template
Use this for any destination. Add one row per calendar day, including the arrival and departure days.
| Day and date | Base for the night | Confirmed anchor and time | Transport and arrival buffer | Meals | Flexible alternative |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 [date] arrival | [hotel] | [landing time, check-in time] | [airport transfer and allowance] | [dinner near hotel] | [rest] |
| 2 [date] | [hotel] | [booking or main activity] | [route and allowance] | [lunch area, dinner area] | [nearby backup] |
| 3 [date] | [hotel] | [booking or main activity] | [route and allowance] | [lunch area, dinner area] | [nearby backup] |
| [last] [date] departure | None | [flight time] | [leave-by time = airport time − transfer − margin] | [breakfast] | [luggage storage] |
Trip details to fill in: arrival airport and time [ ], departure airport and time [ ], hotels and addresses [ ], travelers [ ], mobility or dietary needs [ ]. Keep booking references in your private copy, not in a shared document.
Mistakes to avoid when you adapt a template
- Treating day 1 as a full day. Immigration, luggage and check-in take most of it.
- Adding a destination without removing one. Each extra base adds a travel day.
- Stacking two timed tickets on one morning. A long queue at the first ruins the second.
- Backups across town. Keep the rain plan in the same area as the day it replaces.
- Budgeting from a daily average. Price the actual rooms, transfers and tickets you chose.
- Planning the last afternoon in full. Work backward from the flight and leave the rest open.
Itinerary travel templates FAQ
What is an itinerary travel template?
An itinerary travel template is a ready-made trip plan you copy and adapt. Each one here has a filled day-by-day example, a blank planning table for your own dates and bookings, a budget worksheet and a pre-booking checklist.
Are these itinerary travel templates free?
Yes. Every template on this page is free to read and copy. You do not need an account. Copy the tables into a notes app, spreadsheet or document and replace the bracketed fields.
Can I download the templates as Word, Google Docs or Excel files?
Not yet as separate downloads. Each template page shows the blank day table and budget table as plain HTML tables, which paste cleanly into Word, Google Docs, Google Sheets or Excel.
How do I change the number of days in a template?
Remove or add whole days rather than squeezing extra stops into existing ones. If a shorter trip still has the same number of hotel bases, cut a base: otherwise you keep the travel days and lose the free ones.
Are the times in the templates exact?
No. They are example times. Each time is labeled as your input, a calculation or an estimate not checked live. Opening days, ticket slots and journey times must be confirmed for your own dates.
How are arrival and departure days planned?
They follow the Amicly method: the arrival day plans the gap between landing and check-in, and the departure day works backward from the flight. The templates allow three hours at the airport before an international flight and two before a domestic one, then subtract the transfer and a margin of at least 15 minutes or 25% of a long journey.
Which template should I use for a first trip abroad?
A three-day city template (Barcelona, Rome or Dubai) has one hotel and no transfer days, so it is the easiest to adapt. The ten-day Japan and Vietnam routes add hotel moves and an intercity journey.
Can I use these templates for a family trip?
Yes. Each template has a section on adjusting for families: drop one paid interior per day, keep the rest blocks and choose a base close to transport.
How is a template different from an AI-generated itinerary?
A template is a fixed, reviewed route you adapt by hand. An AI planner such as Amicly writes a new plan for your dates, then looks up each place on Google Maps, times the journeys and checks opening days, labeling anything it could not confirm.
How often are these templates reviewed?
Each template lists its official sources and was reviewed in October 2026. Check ticket rules, entry requirements and transport for your own dates before you book.
Turn a template into your own plan
A template gets you to a sensible route quickly. Your dates, flights and energy decide the rest. If you would rather start from your own dates, build a checked plan in Amicly: it looks up each place on Google Maps, times the journeys and flags anything it could not confirm. Still choosing a tool? Read how to choose a travel itinerary app.
Once your route is settled, move its confirmed bookings into our Google Calendar travel itinerary template. The copyable CSV keeps timed entries and transfers visible while leaving optional stops flexible.
For another short city route, see our three-day London itinerary without a car, organized around Westminster, the Tower and the West End, with shorter versions for each day.
Planning a trip by car? Start with our road trip itinerary template. It separates driving time from breaks, parking and check-in, then works backward from your arrival deadline to help you choose a realistic departure time.
